Dallas County Auditor Todd Halbur reveals how the voter turnout was during the 2025 city and school board elections.

Halbur tells Raccoon Valley Radio that in this past election, there were 78,015 registered voters and of those, 15,445 were cast. Compared to the 2023 election, he mentions there were 15,410 total votes and 15,939 back in 2021. Halbur explains that participation has been steadily dropping since 2021, even though the amount of voters has remained the same. He highlights that it seems counterintuitive due to Dallas County erupting in population.

“It’s kind of a weird way of looking at it because you’re growing the county at a faster rate. They’re registering, they may not be involved in that race. I guess we’re above trends, but still holding steady. But as we get more voters and the county grows, it will just all depend on the candidates and what’s on the ballot. If people are motivated to get out and vote.”

Halbur emphasizes that from a state-wide perspective, there was a participation rate of 16.63 percent, which is lower than the county average at 19.79 percent. He is glad to see the voter turnout not decreasing significantly.
