Every year’s end is bittersweet for any program, but for these football seniors, perhaps a little more so than usual. The turnaround that this group saw is only possible because of great leadership and buy-in from the seniors who want to make a lasting impact on their school for years to come.

Two-way player Hudson Heidgerken led the charge, taking it upon himself to change things not only with his play, but with his attitude. He was a key receiver and a crucial piece of the Mustangs’ secondary, but an electric returner as well on both the kickoff and punt return teams.

When the other Mustangs saw the way he approached each day, they had no choice but to follow suit. It’s impossible to highlight each senior and their individual impact, but anyone watching from the stands could tell that this team was special from the very first game, and that is a testament to the 2026 class and the job they’ve done.

Although those 25 seniors say goodbye to the gridiron, they can all be proud of what they accomplished this season. Creating a winning culture is hard work, and that is exactly what the 2026 class did: they put their heads down and went to work to leave their program in a better place than they found it.
