The Iowa Girls State Swimming and Diving championships will take on a new look later this week.  For the first time in the long history of the sport, the championships will take place over two days in Iowa City and the University of Iowa Wellness and Recreation Complex.  The move coincides with the Boys state championship which has been held in Iowa City for years.  Marshalltown will no longer be the host site for the state tournament.

“I am so excited about the new location and heading to Iowa City,” smiled Perry state qualifier Aleah Karolus.  “It’s about time.  The boys have been swimming there while we have been racing at the older Marshalltown pool.  I think it will be really cool to swim at the University of Iowa and the pool has proven to have some fast times because it’s so nice.”

Karolus and Ellie Hughes will look for state titles beginning this Thursday.
