Mustangs basketball hits the road tonight and makes its way to Newton to take on the Cardinals.

The girls are up first and take their 5-0 record into Newton to challenge the 3-2 Cardinals. This is the first conference game the Mustangs will play this season, while Newton is already 0-1 in the Little Hawkeye. The Cardinals lost to Indianola last week but bounced back by thrashing Des Moines East 53-15, holding them to just two points in the second half.

The boys tip off for the nightcap and will look to right themselves after stumbling out of the gate. DCG has yet to play a conference game, and it comes a few nights after dropping its second home game to Ames. Newton won a nail-biter against East and enters tonight’s contest 2-2.
