The AC/GC Chargers basketball teams were in action last night, splitting their games against the AHSTW Vikings.

In the girls game, things started off quickly for the Chargers with a couple three pointers from junior guard Meranda Gruber. Unfortunately, another thing that took off at break neck speed was the fouls for AC/GC, and senior forward Camdyn Richter was quickly dinged with three, forcing her to sit the bench for the majority of the first half. The Chargers finished the first quarter up 19-6, and went into halftime with a 29-15 lead. In the third quarter, the team’s scoring took off once again, as Richter was able to put up some buckets for the team, and they went into the final quarter up 53-23. It was mainly the junior varsity girls in the fourth quarter, and eventually just the freshmen, and the game ended with the 64-32 victory.

For the boys game, things started slow, but picked up at the end of the first quarter, as the team trailed 12-7. A stronger second quarter pushed the Chargers into the lead though, and they went into the break up 26-23 thanks to a shot from freshman Will Skram, and a free throw from senior Joe Crawford. Things were neck and neck in the third quarter, and the Chargers went into the final quarter trailing 39-38. The Vikings found AC/GC’s number in the fourth, and the game ended in a 60-48 loss.
