A US Congressman is working to fight fraud.

Congressman for Iowa’s 3rd District Zach Nunn says that recently The Iowa Attorney General’s Office, Department of Justice, and Federal Bureau of Investigation all took part in working to shut down a scam looking to make money off of Sergeant Declan Cody. Nunn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this isn’t the only example of fraud taking advantage of American citizens.

“The reality here is that this type of fraud, waste, and abuse, and fraudster scams are happening both on the backs of our fallen soldiers as well as in programs that go to places like the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Congress has a responsibility to step in and fight fraud. It’s one of the reasons why I’ve led the charge with my bill.”

Nunn mentions that his bills the GUARD Act and the TRAPS Act both help local law enforcement fight against fraud, but that the Deporting Fraudsters Act punishes those found guilty of committing scams and fraud by deporting them. He adds that this bill is not a slap on the wrist, but treats fraud and scams as the danger that they are.
