One person has died and another person is injured from an overnight fire in rural Dallas County.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with Minburn, Dallas Center, Woodward, Bouton, Granger, Waukee and Adel Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 19768 Pioneer Avenue in Minburn at 10:26pm Monday. The Sheriff’s Office states that the caller said their boyfriend was still in the home that was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived on scene.

Sheriff Adam Infante says conditions were too dangerous for the deputies when they were the first agency to be on scene. Once the flames were extinguished, Infante notes that one person was found dead inside the home, who was later identified as 57-year-old Jonathan David Fox, who resided in the home. He points out another individual was taken to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center by Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, and their condition is unknown at this time.

Infante details that additional assistance came from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Dallas County Emergency Management Agency, Dallas County Secondary Roads Department and the Granger Police Department. He adds that the incident remains under investigation at this time.
