The Greene County Historical Society will be flying with the birds with a special free program on Sunday.

According to the Historical Society, three raptors from the Saving Our Avian Resources (SOAR) that is a non-profit organization based in Carroll County will be featured at the museum in Jefferson at 2pm on Sunday. SOAR supports raptor rehabilitation, education and research as its main mission.

Historical Society Program Director Margaret Hamilton says there will be a hawk, owl and maybe a falcon and the presenters will be expressing the importance of having raptors in the local countryside. She points out that SOAR was at the Greene County Fair two years ago and people thought it was such a successful program, they wanted to bring the organization back for another educational opportunity.

The Historical Society adds that the birds will be caged, but the presenters will have them on their arms during the program that does not require registration.
