A Perry man was recently arrested for allegedly brandishing a knife.

According to court documents, a Perry Police Officer responded to a call of a disturbance at a residence at 10:23pm Thursday, where the suspect, 33-year-old Angesom Adhanom, allegedly brandished a knife. Court documents show that when the officer arrived on scene and had his firearm drawn, Adhanom dropped the knife and he initially refused to be taken into custody.

The criminal complaint states that the officer reviewed a cellphone video of the incident from one of the victims who stated that Adhanom entered the residence without permission, had a knife drawn and kept saying “pay or you die.” The affidavit states that the victims also claimed that Adhanom tried to enter a bedroom where the victims were hiding.

Adhanom was arrested and charged with a Class B Felony for first degree theft, two aggravated misdemeanors for first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and a simple misdemeanor for interference with official acts. He was booked and remains in the Dallas County Jail under a $30,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
