Court documents have been released regarding the homicide investigation in Grand Junction.

According to court documents, two 911 calls were made around 2:12pm on Sunday about an assault that had taken place at 505 Main Street East in Grand Junction. Court documents show that the victim was Alex Treft, who was located in the detached two-vehicle garage and he had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Court documents state that surveillance footage was obtained from the residence, where a black SUV was seen entering the property at 1:35pm, where the driver, identified as 27-year-old Sebastian Ramirez of Perry, got out of the vehicle and met up with Treft in the garage. The criminal complaint states that at 1:41pm, the video footage showed Ramirez left the residence and got in the black SUV and drove away.

Court documents show that a witness heard a gunshot and a gunshot was also recorded on the audio portion of the footage. Court documents indicate that the first 911 call was made about 30 minutes later when Treft was found on the floor of the garage, bloody and unresponsive. Investigators say Ramirez was the only individual seen to be with Treft during that time period before his body was discovered.

Ramirez was then located in Perry and arrested by the Perry Police Department at 5:56pm on Sunday. When questioned by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Agents, Ramirez denied being in Grand Junction and being with Treft.

Treft was rushed to Greene County Medical Center and was then transported to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines by air ambulance, where he later died from his injuries. Court documents show that a witness told investigators that Ramirez gave them the 9mm handgun that he had cleaned and wanted to hold the weapon at their home in Churdan. Court documents state that the witness later gave the weapon to law enforcement that was believed to be used in the shooting.

Ramirez was charged with a Class A Felony for first degree murder, and a Class D Felony for felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $1 million bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 29th at the Greene County Courthouse.
