The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect and victim in the alleged homicide.
Sheriff Jack Williams says a 911 call was made about an assault that was taking place at 505 Main Street in Grand Junction at 2:13pm on Sunday. Williams says the Sheriff’s Office, along with Grand Junction Rescue and Greene County Ambulance responded to the scene. He states that the victim, later identified as Alex Treft, was transported to Greene County Medical Center and was later taken by air ambulance to Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and the victim later died from a gunshot wound.
Williams says the suspect, identified as Sebastian Ramirez of Perry, was detained in Perry by the Perry Police Department and was later transported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. He states that at 11:50am, Ramirez was charged with a Class A Felony for first degree murder, and a Class D Felony for felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Greene County Jail.
Williams adds that the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
