The Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Drug Take Back Day is happening on Saturday, and one local law enforcement entity in Dallas County is participating.
The Perry Police Department, 908 Willis Avenue, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for people to discard any expired or unwanted prescription and over the counter medications.
Police Chief Jim Archer explains that they engage in the program twice a year during the spring and fall seasons, in an effort to provide a safe way to dispose of unused or expired medications. He adds that they will not accept syringes or needles. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
