A notice for Jefferson residents, the city is starting up a service for the year to help get rid of certain yard waste.

Public Works Director Dave Morlan says brush pick up will be offered once per month on the last full week, starting next week. He goes over some general reminders for residents that want to participate with brush pick up.

“We always ask people when they put brush out, stack it in arm load piles, with the butts to the curb. Piles of little sticks, you know like six-inch or 12-inch sticks, you know, those should go in a yard waste bag.”

Morlan clarifies that yard waste bags are reserved for grass clippings, smaller sticks, leaves and other related materials, such as garden waste. He notes that yard waste bags must be biodegradable and require a sticker per bag, and that can be purchased at City Hall. Morlan states that yard waste can be placed out with a resident’s normal garbage pick up and that will also be collected.

Morlan adds that residents also have access to the Yard Waste Dump Site year round at Daubendiek Park. He notes that other items that can be disposed of at the Yard Waste Dump Site includes whole trees from residential properties.
