Coach Kyle Kinne’s Greene County Rams played in the 18 hole golf tournament on Saturday at the Perry Golf & Country Club. The Rams finished in second place in the five team field with 326 strokes. North Polk (Alleman) shot one under par 287 for the 18 holes to win handily. Grand View Christian (Des Moines) was third at 327, followed by ADM’s JV with 338 strokes, and 379 for Perry.

Coach Kinne told Raccoon Valley Radio Carter Hinote and Nathan Towers, both seniors, shot 78 to lead the Rams, and they were just one stroke away from earning medals. Senior Drew Wolterman and sophomore Conner McAndrews had rounds of 85. “Perry’s course is not forgiving with treated ash trees out of bounds real close to many of the h0les and greens. The 326 score includes 10 strokes for out of bounds. Boys are hitting it well and their putting was better.”

Greene County will host its Ram Invitational on Wednesday, April 29 after it was postponed on April 18. Starting time is 9 a.m. with nine holes at The Hill west of Grand Junction and nine holes at Jefferson Community Golf Course. Ten teams are scheduled to take part.
