Dallas Center-Grimes soccer has a double dose of action as the girls are hosting Newton on their home turf, while the boys hit the road to take on the Cardinals.
The girls had won five games in a row, all while shutting out their opponents, before a tie with Indianola last time out. Technically, they did keep the Indians off the board, but the Mustangs didn’t score either. Seven games into the year, it’s sophomore Jaiydn Shandri leading the team in both goals and points with four and eight. Three other players are tied at six points, and two players are tied at three goals.
The boys ripped off eight wins in a row after a loss in their first game of the year. Going into tonight’s game against the Cardinals, DCG’s leading goal scorer and points getter is senior Colin Mandernach. He has ten goals and 26 points. The next closest is junior Landon Anderson with six goals and twelve points.
The girls kick off at home at 7 pm while the boys start at 7:30 in Newton.
