An Adair County man has been charged with multiple alleged felonies.

According to court documents, law enforcement officials received a call of a female victim at Adair County Health Systems who wanted to file a complaint. Upon arrival, the officer observed bruises on both legs, as well as a cut that had been bleeding on the victim’s head. The victim shared that while she was gathering her things from her boyfriend’s residence, he, 34 year old Dalton Cormeny of Fontanelle, arrived and was very upset.

The victim then mentioned that Cormeny began throwing things, breaking glass objects, with anything and everything becoming a projectile. At one point, Cormeny even threw an object at the TV. The victim stated she tried to leave, but Cormeny pulled her back from the stairs twice, one time grabbing her legs and causing her to fall on them. The victim also shared that Cormeny at one point placed both hands on her throat while she was seated on a mattress on the floor, causing her to have trouble breathing, her vision to blur, and her ears to begin ringing.

Eventually Cormeny released the victim, and she noticed he retrieved a rifle from nearby and moved it to a closet. The victim believed if they had intercourse, that Cormeny would be in a better mood. Once finished, she began gathering her things again, and Cormeny returned to the room, and once again became angry, throwing more objects, then attacked her with a cardboard box filled with miscellaneous items. According to court documents, Cormeny grabbed a solid glass cylindrical object and struck the victim atop the head, causing the bleeding.

Cormeny then offered to drive the victim to the hospital, which she refused. He told her that if she told anyone what really happened to her, she would be in trouble, then hit himself in the face multiple times. Cormeny then commented that if she told the police and he went back to jail, when he got out he would “burn her house down.” The victim then ran to a friend’s house, where she was then taken to the hospital.

Cormeny was later arrested and booked at the Adair County Jail. The alleged charges include two counts of dominion or control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon, a Class D Felony; three counts of dominion or control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a domestic abuse offender, a Class D Felony; willful injury causing bodily harm, a Class D Felony; false imprisonment, a serious misdemeanor; assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor; and first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
