It is National Nurses Week.

Something many hospitals do during this week is recognize the annual nominees and awardees for the Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem, or DAISY Award, which recognizes nurses internationally that go above and beyond with compassion and care for their patients. Guthrie County Hospital also celebrates with the Sunshine Award, which recognizes those that are part of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) team at the hospital. Marketing Coordinator Emily Irwin tells Raccoon Valley Radio that both awards will be given out at 2pm at the hospital’s Sneakers Cafe. This year’s DAISY Award nominees are Stephany Brondum, Dale Peterson and Matt Sandel. This year’s Sunshine Award nominee is LaRoyce Kress.
