With the plans for an expansion with the Jefferson Library revealed to the public, the next step will be taken.
Architect firm Studio Melee designed the expanded footprint of the library that includes opening the original Carnegie building to be a renovated space for meetings and other gatherings, moving the Youth Services Department to a newly built second floor, above the 1966 addition, where the Adult Department will remain.
Library Director Jane Millard talks about the next phase of the project, the fundraising with the newly established Jefferson Library Foundation.
“And that has a board of five (people) that will lead us through the campaign to raise $4 million for this addition.”
Millard adds that the conceptual designs are on display now in the library where people can ask and get additional information about the project.
