
The Stuart City Council will meet in regular session Monday night.
The Council will consider for approval a resolution in support of submission of an application to the Hometown Pride program, and several items relating to Travel America, including a site plan, request for a sidewalk waiver, request for a landscape waiver, tax increment financing (TIF) application financial scenarios, traffic study results and a TIF application. They will also consider for approval possible joint financing for a utility substation project, and discuss a possible moratorium on alcohol and tobacco sales.
The Council will then consider for approval the second reading of an ordinance amending the code regarding speed regulations, sale of a 1992 Ford F700 pumper truck from the fire department, and the hiring of a full time paramedic. Other items for approval include Public Works employee Josh Renslow receiving a Grade 2 Wastewater Operator certificate, and adoption of a 2025-26 city budget amendment.
The Council will also consider for approval an agreement for maintenance and repair of primary roads in municipalities from the Iowa Department of Transportation, renewal of the contract with Main Street Marketing, appointment and approval of Cemetery Committee members, and final acceptance of MidAmerican Energy sanitary sewer extension on Southwest 7th Street going west from Adair Street. There will then be reports from Mayor Cory Kirkpatrick, the city administrator/clerk, department heads and council members.
