Tomorrow is the annual Market to Market Relay and there will be lots of runners going along the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
Since its inception, the Market to Market Relay has started in downtown Jefferson and it ends in downtown Des Moines, over about 75 miles of the trail that goes through Greene, along with portions of Guthrie and Dallas Counties. According to Pink Gorilla Events, teams of six to eight people will run the course and it will be a relay race.
Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse says the first wave of runners begins at 5am tomorrow morning and then following the last wave, everything is cleaned and packed up by 10am. He cautions anyone out early tomorrow morning to be aware that several thousands of people will be in Jefferson and running along East Lincoln Way to the bike trail.
“And also, I will be placing ‘No Parking” signs basically from the (Greene County) museum to the bike trail on the south side of (East) Lincoln Way. Because of the bike trail, that’s a nice wide area for the runners to take advantage of.”
Clouse thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation for tomorrow’s event.
