Senior Awards Night at Greene County High School last night was largely about academics and college scholarships, but four major athletic awards were also presented. Becca Anderson received the Female Ram of the Year with Broc Stream named the Male Ram of the Year. The Lisa Brinkmeyer Award went to Kaycee Pittman and the Bernie Saggau Award was presented to Aden Bardole.

The Brinkmeyer Award is offered to Iowa high schools by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union in honor of the volleyball and basketball Hall of Fame athlete, who also worked at the IGHSAU for years. Brinkmeyer was a standout athletic in Hubbard-Radcliffe High School and once was the keynote speaker at a Jefferson-Scranton Senior Athletic Awards Night. The honor recognizes graduating female student-athletes who have excelled in academics, athletics, service, and leadership throughout their high school careers.

The Saggau Award from the Iowa High School Athletic Association is presented annually to the graduating student who best exemplifies a patriotic spirit, with strong moral convictions, living and professing the qualities of honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship; believing that both games and life should be conducted by the rules. Saggau lived well into his nineties and for decades led the IHSAA. The Denison High School graduate was a standout athlete himself, and like Brinkmeyer, was a keynote speaker at J-S for Senior Athletic Awards Nights.

The Ram of the Year is presented one one senior girl and one senior boy. Head coaches are asked to nominate student-athletes and an anonymous committee makes the final selections. The awards go to individuals who have demonstrated athletic ability, leadership skills on and off the field, and are in good standing academically.
