The Greene County girls’ soccer team fell to East Sac County in Wall Lake on Friday, 4-0, in non-conference play. Coach Wes Anderson’s team is 0-14 with one goal scored this season. The Raiders led by just a 1-0 score at halftime. The coach told Raccoon Valley radio that senior goalkeeper Lucy Vander Linden had 22 saves while junior London Harris had the only shot on goal for the Rams.
Originally scheduled as a girl/boy doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m., the girls’ start time was moved up to 4:30 p.m. due to impending weather. The girls’ match was completed and after three lightning delays, the boys’ match was called off.
The Greene County boys open Class 2A postseason play tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Linduska Field in Jefferson vs. the Harlan Community Cyclones. The winner goes to Sioux City on May 26 to take on highly rated Bishop Heelan.
