Two representatives from West Central Valley High School will be heading to Des Moines later this week to participate in the Iowa High School State Track and Field Meet.
Wildcat junior Willow Ray and senior Talia Williams are both competing in the High Jump event for Class 2A after securing a qualifying spot. Ray jumped the highest out of the 23 other athletes in Class 2A, going a distance of five feet and five inches. For Williams, her mark of five feet exactly places her in the 14th position coming into the state meet.
This is Ray’s second opportunity going to the state meet, while Williams will be joining her for the first time. The Iowa Girls and Boys State Meet is taking place at Drake Stadium in Des Moines this Thursday through Saturday, as the Class 2A Girls High Jump section is happening on Friday at 4:30pm.
