One project that saw several different student groups coming together was recently completed at Greene County High School.
High School Industrial Technology Teacher Ethan Martin says a new playhouse for the Little Ram Preschool was started with his Intro to Construction class, where the students built the floor, walls and rafters. He points out that the SkillsUSA students assembled the structure and completed, with a total of 44 hours that was split between a few students and himself to get it done.

Martin expresses that they also worked with the Greene County FFA Chapter, as well as the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) organization, as he walks through each of those processes..
“We build it, FFA is helping fund it and they’re also going to be going through and doing the painting, doing some of the aesthetics aspects of it. FCCLA is coming through to give more of that educational aspect to it (and) make it usable for those students kind of in Little Ram Preschool. So it’s a really great opportunity just to kind of get everybody put together and overall just get a good collaborative project done.”
Martin adds that he is very happy with the end result of the playhouse. He explains that students gave up their personal time to work on the project, without pay or grades, just to give back to the community and the school. He says Lisa Garnett, the Little Ram Preschool teacher and FCCLA Advisor, has had nothing but positive things to say about it.
