The West Central Valley Baseball Team were on the road in Atlantic on Tuesday, as the Wildcats fell 2-1 to the Trojans with a late hit in the final inning.

It was the second game of the season for West Central Valley, who won their first contest on Monday versus Audubon 6-1. Meanwhile, Tuesday was the season and home opener for Atlantic. The Wildcats scored the initial run in the first inning, as junior Colton Lindsay was walked then advanced to second base after freshman Caden Lane was also walked. Lindsay stole for third, before scoring on an error by the Trojans to give West Central Valley the 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats held that mark until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Atlantic senior Kale Jensen doubled to bring in two runners on the base for the walk-off 2-1 victory. West Central Valley sophomore starting pitcher Tryce Dlouhy completed five innings, allowing two hits, had eight strikeouts and walked six batters. Freshman Miles Sheeler finished one inning, allowing one hit, two runs, and struck out 10.

The Trojans improve to 1-0 on the year, as the Wildcats drop to 1-1, and will host Red Oak in Stuart on Friday, beginning at 6pm.
