The Panorama Lady Panther basketball team kicked off their 2016-2017 season yesterday by commencing with first practices.
Panorama is looking to pick off right where they left off last season where the Lady Panthers took to a 17-6 record. The Lady Panthers earned a great season with their great shooting leading the West Central Activities Conference in 3pt percentage at 36.3% while coming in third inside the conference in overall free throw percentage at 66.2% from the charity stripe.
Last season Panorama shot out of the gates quickly scoring wise totaling over 50% of the teams total season points in the first two quarters alone. With a plethora of returning talent for the Lady Panthers, Panorama head girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga looks to not only continue to start off strong offensively but go one step further this season.
“We’re going to try and push the ball even more this year. We would like to get out in a fast break more because we’re more athletic. So we’re going to try and push it more and try and keep a more up tempo type game because I think it suits our team the best this year. I still would love to be able to slow it down and control the game more at times and I think we’re getting closer each year to doing some of those things,” explained coach Druivenga.
The fist scheduled competitive action for the Lady Panthers is set for this Saturday in Ankeny against Ankeny Centennial.
