The boys’ swimming team from Boone High School ended its regular season on Saturday with a second place finish at the North Central Swim Conference Championships. Lucas Ausberger and Mason Osborne are students from Greene County who swim for Boone under an athletic sharing agreement.

Indianola won the team title with 492.5 points with Boone next at 476, followed by Newton 390, Decorah 257, Grinnell 192, Vinton-Shellsburg 167, Oskaloosa 127, and 41 for Williamsburg.

There were some top eight finishers for the duo from Greene County. Ausberger swam on the fifth place 200 meter medley relay and he was seventh individually in the 50 freestyle. Ausberger and Osborne were both members of the seventh place 200 freestyle relay.

Boone Coach Chris Mann said, “It was a great meet! Over half of our swims were lifetime bests. It was fun winning five events and being second or third in just about everything else. The boys had a lot of fun in their last “low pressure” meet before districts. They swam well enough to earn us Coaching Staff of the Year.”

The Toreadors swim in a District Meet this Saturday the 4th in Ft. Dodge starting at 12 p.m.
