With spring here and the weather finally beginning to warm up, the Perry Public Works Department is beginning to formulate their plan of attack for repainting street lines around the City.
Deputy Director Josh Wuebker says they used to repaint lines every year, but their time and staff is fewer than it used to be so they now do it every other year. They hope to start next week. Areas include parking lots, parking stalls, and crosswalks in the downtown area, at the recreation center, and at the police department. Wuebker hopes the painting, combined with spring cleanup, will help give the City a fresher look.
Other plans include repainting around the schools. Wuebker says that’s become more important to do with some frequency as the quality of the paint available has dipped. “Well, every year we always paint the school crossings. And we try to do that about two weeks or three weeks before school so it stays fresh. The paint nowadays just isn’t like it used to be. You know, I don’t know if it doesn’t have all the harmful chemicals or something like it used to, but it just doesn’t seem to stick as much. So we’ll do the school crossings in August.”
