The Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield will be hosting the TAIKOPROJECT 2 at their facility located at 154 Public Square in Greenfield this Saturday at 7:00 P.M.
In addition to their public performance this weekend, the California-based group will be visiting with students at Nodaway Valley schools today in an effort to provide exposure to a new genre of music.
TAIKOPROJECT 2 founder Bryan Yamami explains the name of the group comes from America’s premier Taiko company, based on the ancient Japanese musical art. However, modern sound and choreography have been mixed in to the show, producing a high-energy show that focuses on sight as well as sound.
Yamami says this type of music is something that has been ingrained in the members since a young age, with most of them starting before their 10th birthday. But from the get-go the group was challenged to add their own personal spin to the performances and make it their own.
Tickets for Saturday’s show are on sale now at Ed & Eva’s in Greenfield and online at www.warrenculturalcenter.com. Warren Cultural Center Director Ken Sidey says there are a limited number of premium seats in the front half of the floor and the balcony available, at $30. Standard seating is $20.
