The 2018 general election isn’t until November, but a few candidates have already begun making rounds on the campaign trail.

Warren Varley from Stuart, who is the Democratic nominee for Iowa House District 20, will be paying a visit to Perry on Friday, June 29th for a meet and greet fundraiser. The event is being hosted by the Perry Area Democrats, and will be held at the home of Kent and Cheri Sheib, located at 16822 142nd Place, at 7 p.m. Varley will be joined at the event by State Treasurer Mike Fitzgerald, who is also on the November ballot and is running unopposed. Also in attendance will be Varley’s father, Andrew, who was a former Republican State Representative for Perry and most of Dallas County in the 1970’s.

There is no cost to attend the meet and greet, and it’s open to the public. District 20 includes all of Guthrie and Adair counties, a portion of Cass County, and a small section of Dallas County that includes Perry.
