A seventh-inning fielding blunder cost the No. 4 Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers a Raccoon River Conference sweep of league opponent Ballard last night. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network was in Huxley Monday evening to broadcast game two of a league doubleheader between the Tigers and the Bombers. ADM brought a 4-2 lead to the field in the bottom of the seventh. After the Tigers retired two of the first three batters, Ballard sophomore Abby Husak put a bunt down the third base line. The throw was hurried by ADM freshman Brooke Hickey, keeping the Bombers alive in the frame with runners on second and third. Ballard forced a full count walk during the next at-bat, and sophomore Maggie Larson drilled a walk-off grand slam over the right-field fence for a 6-4 victory. ADM sophomore Emma McAdon scored two runs off the bench for the Tigers in the loss. McAdon replaced Oliva Tollari at shortstop early in the first inning after Tollari was injured on a collision in left field with sophomore Morgan Meyer. Game one saw ADM top Ballard, 6-3. The results push ADM’s overall record to 31-6 and 11-2 inside the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers close their regular season schedule tonight in Carlisle against Class 4A No. 2 Carlisle. The game will resume in the top of the third with the Tigers and Wildcats scoreless.
