Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center students have an opportunity this coming Monday to spend their day off from school learning about the county’s prehistoric residents.

Guthrie County Extension and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are partnering to offer “Schools Out! Day Camps” from now through next April at Springbrook State Park. The first one titled “Dinosaurs & Fossils” will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the visitor center. Youth from kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to get their hands dirty while investigating the remnants of Iowa’s prehistoric creatures. Cost is $5 for the day camp, with snacks and supplies provided. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. You can register here.
