Not only can you enjoy various aspects of the Spanish and Latino culture in Perry this weekend, you can do so while supporting a good cause.
The annual Latino Festival takes place Sunday afternoon and Mary Murphy with Hispanics United for Perry says all proceeds go to the HUP scholarship fund.
“Everything that the HUP committee and HUP organization does is fundraising for scholarships. We were really excited to give out four scholarships this year” says Murphy.
This year was the first time HUP decided to help the non-traditional student further their education and Murphy says it’s something she thinks is really important.
“We were really, really pleased that not only do we recognize high school students going on to higher education, but a non-traditional student in our community, going on to DMACC” adds Murphy.
The Latino Festival takes place at Wiese Park Sunday from noon-6pm.
