Friday night was the final home game of the year for both the Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball teams at Dallas Center-Grimes High School.
The Fillies were able to end their regular season with a 15th win in commanding fashion, 69-31 over Norwalk. The DC-G Girls’ have now won 7 of their last 8 regular season games and will enter Regional postseason play on Wednesday with a 15-6 record. The Fillies will meet Winterset at home on Wednesday in the first round of post season action.
Winterset, like DC-G, is ending the season hot. As they had won 7 straight, until dropping a game last night at #4 ranked Ballard.
The DC-G Boys’ came up a bit short in their match-up with Norwalk, although they were highly competitive against one of the best 3A teams in the state. The final score favored the Warriorrs 66-56. DC-G had three players in double figures. Alex Thomas lead the Mustangs with 13 points, Cole Glasgow and Luke Rankin each had 10, and Senior, Logan Smith added 9.
DC-G plays their final regular season tune-up at North Polk on Tuesday.
The DC-G Boys’ earned the #2 seed in their District bracket, which means the Mustangs will have home court advantage through, at least, the first two rounds of postseason play. The first round match-up for the Mustangs will be against Perry on February 24. Should DC-G advance, then they would likely see a re-match versus ADM in Grimes in the sub-state semifinal.
