The Greene County boys’ soccer program can’t be accused of scheduling easy opponents to open the season. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams play Perry and Des Moines North in Perry on Saturday. The Blue Jays are good year after year, and boys’ soccer is among the best sports the Polar Bears consistently field. Both schools have larger enrollments than the Rams, who are in Class 1A, the smallest of the three boys’ soccer classes in Iowa.

Greene County scrimmaged 2A 2019 State qualifier Storm Lake and Panorama in Panora last Saturday, and won both scrimmages. Coach Behne said he saw a lot of good things from the Rams. “Overall, the communication, the effort, was probably the thing I was most excited about, which led to some really solid chemistry. We need to work on our ball control, and just first touch, but really that’s early in the season kind of stuff that gets better and better as the season goes along. The boys intensity, the effort, and ability to communicate was good.”

The Rams will open with Perry on Saturday, then after a short break, take on DM North.
