New Opportunities of Greene County continues its successful program to give kids in need school supplies.
Greene County Coordinator Teresa Lansman says 175 children received school supplies as well as a free backpack. She appreciates all the support that was given towards this year’s program.
“I could not do this without the Jefferson Telephone Company steps up every year, AAI, the local churches help with either money to go and pick up supplies or getting supplies out. We even have the local Girl Scout 462 Troop, they donated carts of supplies this year. A person notified me when I had put out a plea for wide ruled notebooks and she ordered 200 of them and had them sent right to my office. So the community came together.”
Lansman adds they have additional supplies that can be used throughout the year, including within the school districts as needs arise.
