For those Greene County residents that missed the first in-person private pesticide applicator training for 2022, there are several other options available.
Greene County ISU Extension Director Lori Mannel says there are four “virtual” training sessions coming up in the next three months, and the first time the class will be held is Thursday at 1:30pm at the Greene County Extension office in Jefferson.
“You’re going to be seeing it live, on the screen, so that’s what we mean by virtual, with the presenter Mike Witt is our agronomist who does this program. It’s two hours long.”
Topics to be covered include corn rootworm management, herbicide issues and disease management. Cost for the program is $20 and it will fulfill the 2021 recertification requirements for those who apply pesticides privately. The next three virtual courses will be on January 11th, February 24th and March 17th. Contact the Extension office in Jefferson at 515-386-2138 or stop by to sign up as space is limited to the first 20 participants.
