Today marks the beginning of the second week of the 2022 Iowa Legislative Session, and one lawmaker outlines what to expect.

Iowa House Representative for District 19 Carter Nordman says last week featured lawmakers returning to the Capitol in Des Moines and getting a lot of pre-work done before the bulk of the session. Nordman previews what to expect from the second week of session.

“We are going to go right in, we have a lot of committee work coming up. All the committees are meeting. Bills are still being filed and written, we are going to, I’m sure, start considering some bills in committees.”

Nordman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Governor Kim Reynolds laid out a bold agenda in her Condition of the State Address which included a proposed flat tax of four-percent which is something Nordman says he may support.

“We are going to start looking at all of it. It’s the Legislature’s job to vet all that, look at all the numbers and ensure that it’s the best thing for the State of Iowa.”

The 2022 Iowa Legislative Session officially began on January 10th.
