West Central Valley’s girls wrestling team will soon be receiving a practice space all their own.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that in the recent school board meeting, quotes were approved to install a practice area for the girls wrestling program in one of the district’s buildings.

“We shared girls wrestling last year with Panora(ma) and AC/GC (Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center). We’ve all chosen to go out on our own, so we had to come up with where we’re going to practice. We use the safe room at the high school for boys wrestling. So we have a safe room at Stuart Elementary. We’re spending the money to put a wrestling room in there to allow our girls to have their own space.”

Shockley says the quotes were from Resilite for materials, and from Jay Growth for installation. The combined total to renovate the room is $32,026. Shockley adds that this will allow plenty of space for all of West Central Valley’s wrestling teams to be able to practice, and not worry about having to share facilities.
