On Friday night the Panorama Panthers hosted the Madrid Tigers for double header basketball action and split the series, with the Lady Panthers vanquishing the Tigers 51-35 while the Panther boys fell to the Tigers 75-42.
The Panther girls defense was phenomenal in the first quarter, holding the Tigers to only 4 points while scoring 15 of their own. The Panthers would keep the offensive momentum and hold the lead, with the score at 29-16 going into the halftime break. Holding a 13 point lead, Panorama continued to keep the clamps on defense, only allowing 19 points in the second half while putting up 22 of their own to claim a 51-35 victory.
For the Panther boys, the Tigers took the lead in the first and never looked back, scoring 21 points while holding the Panthers to only 9. With an 11 point lead the Tigers would continue to hold the advantage as the Panther defense could not seem to find an answer, allowing the Tigers to score 27 points in the third. The Panthers would score 10 again in the final quarter but the damage was already done as the Panthers fell 75-42.
Panther boys are back in action tonight as the Greene County Rams come to Panorama High School for boys varsity basketball action. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
