Saturday will be the final day that the Jefferson Municipal Pool is open for the season, but only for the canines.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department Director Nathan Kral says the Doggie Swim will be from 1-2:30pm on Saturday, where all canines and their owners get in for free. He notes that there is a time change for this year’s event, as it was in the evening last year, and the reason for the move was that was when the pool staff could be there.
Kral states that the dogs must be on leashes as they come into and leave the facility, and he reminds the owners that they are responsible for cleaning up after their furry friend and all canines must be current on their vaccines and licensing. He adds that the Doggie Swim has become a fun tradition for the community. Kral says this is done on the last day the pool is open so that there are no sanitary concerns for people afterwards and it allows pets and their owners a unique way to enjoy the facility.
