The Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling Team, who Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School partners with, is participating in day number two of the Dan Gable Donnybrook Tournament in Iowa City today, as Katie Biscoglia, Calista Rodish, and Cassidy McCallister will compete in the championship rounds.

Biscoglia (weight class 110 lbs.) started by defeating New Hampton’s Drey O’Brien by a fall (1 minute and 6 seconds), before beating Dekalb’s Larisza Gomez Guevara in a technical fall, and then taking down Mid-Prairie’s Austyn Sexton by a fall (1:55), and won over Ankeny’s Lauren Watson by a 5-0 decision to set up the championship match versus Omaha Westside’s Mara Vanderpool today.

For RRNW’s McCallister (105 lbs.), she took down Lockport’s Alaina Churnovic in a fall (54 seconds), then defeated Mason City’s Aubrey Hoveland in a technical fall, which then led to a win against Huntley’s Janiah Slaughter in a 2-1 decision, and then beat Prairie Cedar Rapids Marie Burns in a fall (4:25) to put her in the championship against Charles City’s Sophia Gaberielle Calpito.

Rodish (140 lbs.) was the third wrestler to advance to the finals for RRNW, which saw her defeat Dekalb’s Kara Zimmerman in a fall (2:43), then won over Decorah’s Bristol Parker in a fall (36 seconds), before beating Algona’s Lillian Allie in a fall (1:14), and took care of Freedom’s Stella Pettitt by a 16-7 major decision to set up her championship match versus Lockport’s Claudia Heeney.

The finals are taking place today at noon from the Xtreme Arena in Iowa City. Raccoon Valley Radio will have the results tomorrow.
