The Panorama Girls Wrestling Team participated in the Class 1A Region 2 Iowa State Wrestling Meet at Colfax-Mingo High School on Friday, and Emma Walker was one place off from advancing to the state meet.

The Panthers tied with Martensdale-St. Mary’s in the meet with 45 points, as Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont came out the winners of the meet with 203.5 points. Individually, Emma Walker, at weight class 170, fell in the second place match to West Liberty’s Bricsia Garcia-Vasquez by no contest to nab third place. Wrestlers that finish top-two advance to the state meet.

Despite missing out this year, Walker is showing a lot of promise for the future, as she is only a sophomore. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s State Wrestling Tournament is taking place this Thursday and Friday at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
