
Greene County played a girls golf dual meet vs. Grand View Christian and the boys faced GVC and Woodward-Granger on Monday in Des Moines at Terrace Hills Golf Course. The boys’ were third in a tight nine hole round with the host Thunder shooting 170, followed by the Hawks at 173, and the Rams third with 177 stokes. The girls from Greene County won 210-248.
Girls’ coach Heath Telleen said the girls really played well on a tough course the Rams had never played before. All four scores counting in the Rams’ team total were between 51 and 54 with Tylor Johnston the medalist at 51, followed by Maya Telleen at 52 for runner-up honors. Alivia Cornell was next at 53 and Calleigh Fitzpatrick shot 54.
Kyle Kinne is the boys’ coach for the Rams and he saw the three Hinote cousins on the team finish one-two-three for the Rams. Sophomore Keaton Hinote shot 39 and was the runner-up medalist. Senior Carter Hinote shot 42 with senior Malachi Hinote at 46. Sophomore Conner Mc Anders rounded out the scoring for the Rams with a 50.
