The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center High School Drama Department is gearing up for their spring musical this weekend.

Director Kelsey Dinkla says that the students are really excited to present “The Addams Family” Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the interesting selection process she and the kids use to choose what musical they would like to put on.

“So (I) found a few teachers on TikTok a few years ago that do, just a really fun musical reveal with their students. And it’s essentially like an elimination game. The cool part about this year is I have been planning on this show for this specific year with this specific set of kids for the last five years. And it’s been really fun to know that it was the right choice five years ago and to know that currently it is everything and more. This year my students have really stepped up. They are so enjoying the story and bringing it to life.”

Dinkla mentions that this musical is very popular among small theaters and high schools, so it’s exciting to take part in that and bring it to the AC/GC communities. She adds that the Friday and Saturday showings will be at 7pm, with the Sunday matinee performance at 2pm, and all three will take place in the AC/GC High School Auditorium.
