The leader of the West Central Valley Boys Soccer Team is continuing to gel well following the success of last season.

The Wildcats are off to a great start, posting a record of 7-0, as nine different players have recorded goals. A year ago, West Central Valley finished the regular season undefeated, then advanced to the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Soccer Tournament, where they fell 2-0 to Hudson. However, Wildcat Head Coach Matthew Smith highlights that 10 of the 11 players returned this year and are on a mission to get a little further this season.

“These boys are just really hungry and just wanted to be really successful. I think nine different people have scored a goal this year, and it’s not one in particular, it’s the entire team and it’s helping us play better together and not one (person) in particular just taking over the show.”

West Central Valley will be hosting Van Meter on Monday in Stuart for their eighth game.
