
On Tuesday, the Perry Bluejays soccer team traveled to Jefferson to face off against the Greene County Rams in conference play. The Rams battled back in the second half, scoring twice a to secure the 3-1 comeback victory over the Bluejays.
The Bluejays gave up a goal early, but keeper Jonathan Gomez stayed strong in the box keeping the Rams to only one goal in the first half with three crucial saves to keep Perry in the battle. George Krohn, evened the match with six minutes left in the first half, defeating the keeper one on one after a hand ball in the box lead to the pentaly kick. Tied 1-1, Perry came out hot in the second half, with Maynor Ordonez-Lopez scoring off a header early in the second half to take a 2-1 lead for the Bluejays. Gomez continued to battle in the box but the Rams notched in two more goals to take the lead late in the match. Perry continued to battle but time was not on their side, as the Bluejays had a free kick in the final moments but the Rams defense secured the 2-1 victory.
Now at 5-5-1, the Bluejays return to action next week on Tuesday, playing host to the Grand View Christian Thunder. The match is set to begin at 7pm from Dewey Field.
