ADM Junior Prom Committee Member Claire Goodrich

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Prom returns on Saturday with a night of fun activities.

Junior Prom Committee Member Claire Goodrich says this year’s theme is “Prom at the Derby.” She adds that they have a lot of florals and a signature drink based around the Kentucky Derby, which will also be held on Saturday. 

Goodrich details that the evening will begin with the Grand March at 4:30 p.m. in the high school north gym, with doors opening to the public at 4:15 p.m. The event is sponsored by the ADM Class of 2028 and the entrance fee is $5 per person or $10 for a family through cash or Venmo at the door. 

Goodrich shares that the dance will be held from 8-10:30 p.m. at the TPK Event Center in West Des Moines.

She talks about what she is most looking forward to about Saturday’s event.

“I would say being on the prom committee, I’m excited to see it all put together. But I’m also just excited for the whole experience. I’m a junior, so this is my first prom so it’ll be exciting to see it all as a new experience.”

The evening will wrap up with After Prom from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. back at the high school, which will feature a mechanical bull, inflatables, silent disco, casino games sponsored by the Adel Kiwanis, bingo and more. A bus will also be available to shuttle students to the Adel Family Fun Center for bowling.

Goodrich adds that the parent-led After Prom Committee will hand out over $10,000 in prizes at the end of the night.
