The Greene County High School track and field teams were in action Monday at North Polk High School in Alleman. The coed event was somewhat of a preview of this Thursday’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet in Jefferson as more than half of Monday’s teams are HOIAC members. Not all the teams ran at full strength.
Coach Derek Merk’s girls finished fifth among eight teams at 73 points and Coach Chad Morton’s boys were fourth in a field of seven teams with 90 points. The PCM (Monroe) boys scored 131 and Nevada had 119. Roland-Story (Story City) scored 108 for third, followed by the Rams, North Polk 75, South Hamilton (Jewell) 64, and Johnston had 39. Coach Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio his team did well on a windy night and they recorded six victories.
