Senior Nathan Towers earned All-Conference honors and the Greene County Rams were fifth in the nine team Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ golf tournament held Tuesday at Lincoln Valley Golf Course east of State Center. Coach Kyle Kinne’s team shot 19 strokes better than in 2025 on the same course and turned in an 18 hole total of 329. Nevada shot 310 to win with PCM (Monroe) second at 315, followed by Roland-Story (Story City) 316, Grand View Christian (Des Moines) 328, then the Rams. In sixth place was South Hamilton (Jewell) 335, then West Marshall (State Center) 338, Saydel (Des Moines) 357, and 363 for Perry.

Towers shot 79 to lead the Rams with  Sophomore Keaton Hinote was next for Greene County with a round of 81 followed by sophomore Louis Schneider at 84, and senior Carter Hinote 85.

The coach told Raccoon Valley Radio, “As a team, we struggled with putting. These greens are a lot different than what we are used to. The team scores are incredible. This Conference has the reigning 3A and 2A State individual champions, and they were third and fourth.”

The HOIAC girls’ golf tournament is today at the same course the boys were on yesterday.
